THE STORY (SO FAR)

The Romanian Bookshelf was founded in 2020 by (then) Comp Lit graduate Patricia Becus, a Romanian-American who was taken aback by the lack of Romanian translations on the shelves of American bicoastal elites.

Drawing on Becus’s experience in advertising in New York and advocacy in Washington DC, The Romanian Bookshelf works to increase the visibility and availability of Romanian translations in the United States.

Over the three years since its inception, Becus worked to assist publishers with their preliminary scouting of Romanian literature and translators to market recently translated titles.
